Every driftwood whale is unique. It's impossible to repeat precisely the artwork.
Length - 25”, height with light - 9.75”.
This whale only stands on the surface and can't be hung up because of the rusty nail on the back. This piece of driftwood was found with this large nail, and I decided to keep it.
All driftwood used to create this artwork is assembled on Cape Cod. Each whale is varnished and waxed.
I don't use a pencil to pre-draw the shape of the whale; driftwood suggests the shape of the whale hidden by the ocean when I cut it out. And then, the whale tells his stories and chooses suitable lighthouses and houses.
